I heard about Matthew durring our National Coming out week activities. It
really stuck a chord with me. It was as if a part of me had been abducted,
beaten, robbed, and left for dead. It was hard for me because he was doing
the same things we at BiGALA are doing in Springfield MO. Just as we had been
celebrating National coming out week, LGBTA (the group to which Matthew
belonged) had been celebrating gay awareness week. Just as his group went out
to coffee after their meeting that week, we went out for coffee after our
meeting. He was my counterpart in Wyoming. When I recieved word that Matthew
passed away on Monday morning, a part of me went with him. With in two hours
of learning this information, we had planned a vigil for Matthew the next day
on Tuesday. Matthew wanted to change the world. I know in my heart and soul
the world will never be the same again. Matthew, thank you for bringing us
all closer.
