Although they are often invisible to professionals in the field of aging - and indeed to society in general - transgender (TG) and transsexual (TS) individuals clearly form a more than negligible percentage of the U.S. population. These elders not only require the same care as all older adults, they also need care - and face obstacles - specifically related to their gender status.
